How It All Began
I’ve been using the GoVerbing™ approach organically for the past 57 years—long before I knew the science behind it.
From a young age, I found vitality and peace in movement: picking apples from my family’s orchard, creating dishes in my café, hiking through the trails of Northern California. This active lifestyle became my natural rhythm, a way to process emotion, stay grounded, and feel alive. The concept of GoVerbing™ truly began to take shape as I started mapping my clients’ autonomic nervous systems. When I asked them what helped them feel calm, safe, or joyful—what moved them into a ventral vagal state—an overwhelming 98% mentioned some form of movement. Walking, dancing, gardening, stretching, even rocking in a chair. The body was speaking.
I also began to notice a pattern in how clients described themselves. Many were stuck in identities like “I’m anxious” or “I’m depressed.” These labels created a sense of permanence and helplessness. Inspired by the brain’s plasticity and our capacity to rewrite internal narratives, we started reframing those statements by asking: What unmet need is this anxiety or depression pointing to? Instead of focusing on the symptom, we explored the root cause. From there, we identified one small, embodied action step to move toward regulation. This subtle but powerful shift invited curiosity, restored a sense of agency, and sparked hope. Over time, it became a pathway toward nervous system regulation, emotional resilience, and lasting transformation.
That’s when it clicked:
GoVerbing™ isn’t just helpful. It’s foundational.
